My Survey: Should School Counselors Help Homeschooling Families?

I am strongly in favor of the option of homeschooling, and I feel that although it is not for every family, many more students will be homeschooled every year. Some public schools have already begun a collaborating with homeschooling families to provide a wider variety of activities to the students than would be available with either educational format alone.

This is what I am exploring with my survey. Is it a workable concept? Is there enough interest from homeschooling families? Would it be of benefit to homeschooling families? If so, would it also benefit the school district, so that is could be a win-win situation? I believe that the option may have merit, but I know that there are strongly dissenting opinions out there.

I would greatly appreciate input from any of these three audiences, to which my survey is specifically geared:

  • Parents who are homeschooling a child or children
  • Parents who have homeschooled their children in the past
  • College students (over age 18) who were homeschooled for their high school years, and
  • Public School Counselors
